Portable Fire Extinguishers

This program addresses the information a person needs to know in order to select and safely use a portable fire extinguisher in
the workplace. The program content looks at:

 

*          Components of fire

 

*          Fire Fighting Techniques

 

*          Extinguishing Agents

 

*          Fire Extinguishers and the Classes of Fires

 

*          Fire Extinguisher Operation, and

 

*          General Guidelines to adhere to when fighting fires.

 

 

The program looks in detail at the most commonly used fire extinguishers in the workplace, those being:

 

*          Water Extinguishers

 

*          Foam Extinguishers

 

*          Co2 Extinguishers, and

 

*          Powder Extinguishers.

 

 

When a fire starts, every second counts. It is therefore critically important that employees are fully trained and competent to use
portable fire extinguishers.
